How to move around WordPress (Basics)

If you’re just new and you want to learn how to perform basic tasks in WordPress. Some of the topics covered are:

How to Create a New Blog Post

1. On your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Posts > Add New.

2. Add the Title and Content.

3. Add a category and Tag to your blog post (Optional).

By Default, the category and tag section is found on the right side of the screen (just below the publish section)

4. Add a featured image (Optional).

By Default, the featured Image section is found on the right side of the screen (just below the tag section)

5. Finally, publish your post.

You can schedule your posts to published in the later time or backdate your posts by selecting a future / past date on “publish”

 

How to Create a New Page and add it on the menu / header

1. On your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Pages > Add New.

2. Add the Title and Content.

You can create a more complex pages by custom coding it or using a  page builder such as Thrive Content Builder or Divi Builder.

3. Publish your page.

 

4.Navigate to Appearance > Menus.

 

5.Check the Page that you want to add to the header and click on “Add to Menu” button.

 

You can also add any types pof posts not just pages

6.Drag and drop the page to the position that you want and click on save.

 

How to upload a media file on WordPress (from the Dashboard)

1. On your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Media > Add New.

2. Drag and drop the file that you want to upload.

3. Get the URL of the uploaded file.

Click on the “Edit” link of the uploaded file  and on the new window you can get the File URL.

How to upload a media file on WordPress (from the Page / Post)

1. On Post/Page creation page, click on “Add Media” button.

2. On the popup dialog, drag and drop the file that you want to upload then click on “insert to post” button.

You can also add to post/page an existing image, simply select the image on the dropdown then click on the “Insert into post” button
